The Overhead Press is a foundational upper body strength exercise primarily targeting the shoulders and triceps. Begin by unracking a barbell or cleaning dumbbells to your shoulders, with feet shoulder-width apart and core braced. Press the weight directly overhead in a controlled manner, driving your head slightly forward at the top to achieve a full lockout. Lower the weight with control back to the starting position, maintaining tension throughout the movement.
Skip or adapt this movement if any of these apply — and check with a professional when in doubt.
