The push-up is a foundational bodyweight exercise targeting the chest, shoulders, and triceps, while also engaging the core for stability. Begin in a plank position with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and body in a straight line from head to heels. Lower your chest towards the floor by bending your elbows, keeping them tucked slightly towards your body. Push through your hands to return to the starting plank position, maintaining a rigid torso throughout the movement.
Skip or adapt this movement if any of these apply — and check with a professional when in doubt.
